Van R. Butler Community,

The safety and security of our students is at the forefront of every decision.  At approximately 1:30 PM, a Van R. Butler staff member heard a suspicious noise near the campus which is surrounded by active construction sites.  With the support of my administrative team and the school resource deputy, we announced for our staff to conduct heightened security procedures.  These heightened security procedures continue the educational process while students remain in their classrooms.  Following a search of the perimeter by the administration and school resource deputy, we found there was no threat to our school and heightened security procedures were lifted at approximately 1:40 PM.  I would like to thank the students, staff and school resource deputy for their swift action in notifying us of the suspicious noise and sudden action to ensure the safety of our school.
