💜🌍 Purple Up! Day at FMS 🌍💜
In honor of Purple Up! Day, our military-connected students participated in a special activity that brought their unique experiences to life. Each student pinned a purple flag on our world map to represent a favorite place they’ve lived or a location where their parent proudly served.
By the end of the day, our map was covered in pins across the U.S. and around the world—from Hawaii to Germany to Italy and beyond.🌎
Listening to our students share memories of those places—the beaches of Hawaii, the castles of Germany, or the food in Italy—was a powerful reminder of just how much our military families contribute to the rich, diverse culture at FMS.
We are so proud to celebrate and support our military-connected students and families today and every day. 💙

💜 Purple Up! for Military Kids 💜
Today, as we join schools across the districts in celebrating Purple Up! Day, we want to take a moment to recognize and honor some real-life heroes walking the halls of Freeport Middle School every day.
We are proud to have nine military veterans on our staff who have bravely served our country and now continue their service in a different uniform—educating, mentoring, and guiding the next generation.
These dedicated individuals understand the unique challenges military families face and lead with compassion, strength, and purpose. 💪📚
📸 Here are the photos of those nine incredible educators in both their military role and their current educator role, proudly mounted on our Wall of Heroes at FMS. Then and now, they are true role models.
To all our veterans at FMS—thank you for your service, both past and present. 💙❤️

☀️📚 Learning Beyond the Classroom! 📚☀️
At Freeport Middle School, we believe that learning happens in many ways and in many places! Last week, Mrs. O'Hara’s Creative Writing class and Ms. Campfield’s U.S. History class took advantage of one of the great features of our school by having class outside!
Engaging in lessons in an outdoor setting provides a differentiated learning experience that fosters creativity, enhances focus, and encourages students to think beyond the walls of a traditional classroom. Whether it’s finding inspiration in nature for writing or discussing history with fresh perspectives in an open environment, these opportunities make learning more dynamic and enjoyable!
We love seeing our teachers use creative ways to bring lessons to life for our Bulldogs! 🐾📖🌿

Freeport Middle School is proud to honor the service and sacrifice of our military community with our newly completed Wall of Heroes display in the main corridor. This powerful tribute features photos of our military veteran teachers, showcasing them both in uniform and today, as they continue to serve our students and school. A detailed map highlights the many locations where our veterans have been stationed, with flags marking their service across the globe.
