South Walton High School and Walton High School youth leadership students were provided the opportunity to present their ideas for new businesses at a recent "Power of Business" luncheon sponsored by the Walton County Chamber of Commerce.   

The following SWHS students presented their business ideas to the Chamber: Amy Broadt, Parker Ewing, Nick Glover, Jenna Kotowske, Mark Mayers, Jamie Riego, and Mitchell Voas.

The following WHS students presented their business idea to the Chamber: Melanie Anderson, Cayla Barrineau, Atha Collinsworth, Laura Hydle, Brent Moore, and Kaylyn Rhodes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sunshine State Scholars recognizes the academic achievements of the top 11th grade students representing every district in Florida.   Freeport High School junior, Cody Autrey, is the Walton County 2014-2015 Sunshine State Scholar.  Congratulations Cody!

Congratulations to Freeport Middle School student Abigail Campbell! She won 3rd place in the 5th grade NWFSC “Picture the Music” art contest! Way to go!

History Team members participating in the Regional Finals of the National History Bee in Baton Rouge were:

  • Nick Sirmans
  • Cooper Weakly

Eric Plunk, Maddox Rhea, Nick Sirmans and Cooper Weakly advanced to the next round and will compete in the National Finals in Louisville, Kentucky in May.

Eric Plunk, Nick Sirmans and Cooper Weakly medaled by placing in the top ten.

And finally, ECMS’s own Nick Sirmans took first place overall in the regional tournament.

Nasim Razavi : Honorable Mention in Medicine and Health

Sophia Papagni: 3rd Place in Biochemistry

Chloe St. Aubin: 3rd Place in Environmental Science

Logan Petty who earned:

  • 2nd Place in Environmental Science
  • A state bid, where he will represent Walton county in Lakeland, Florida
  • The Broadcom Masters Award where he will represent Walton County in a national competition
5th grader Brandon Specht was chosen as a winner of the Scholastic Storyworks magazine writing contest for the Nov/Dec issue. Brandon wrote an article explaining why the mantis shrimp would make an awesome super villain! Way to go, Brandon!
