"The Science of Being SUPER" at Walton Middle School
November 5, 2015
On Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015, Walton Middle School proudly welcomed nearly 350 people to its first ever Title 1 meeting and science-themed parent training night. After a FREE family pizza dinner from Hungry Howie's, parents and students rotated between three science-themed stations for hands-on experiments and educational take-aways to enhance learning at home. Parents and students learned how to excel at science fair projects, how to develop stronger science vocabularies, and how to build and launch hand-made rockets with simple chemical reactions. Thanks to the WMS Science Club, Nonie's Ark entertained young children in the childcare center with hands-on, live animal encounters. Families also enjoyed taking photos in the superhero-themed photo booth throughout the night, snagging pictures with characters from the elite Star Wars 501st Legion. WHS Anchor and Key Club members also assisted in each station throughout the evening. Over half of the teachers at WMS donated their time and energy to make the event an overwhelming and amazing success.
WMS anticipates even better participation for its upcoming "Making Math Matter" parent training night on December 3rd from 6:00-8:00. Math will come alive as families come together at Walton Middle School.
