Pre-K Field Trip

Striiiike! Butler Elementary’s pre-kindergarten and Exceptional Student Education classrooms certainly had a “ball” knocking down those pins on their field trip to Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Bass Pro Shops. A big thank you to all of our family chaperones as well as Bass Pro Shops and Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl for providing us with a fun-filled day!

South Walton High School Freshman Jielle Paul has won an iPad for being #1 in the State of Florida on Math Nation.  She earned the iPad for her involvement on the Geometry Wall, helping other students and answering challenge questions.  Jielle is a wonderful student, very helpful and always prepared for class.  The entire South Walton High School student body is proud of her success.

On Thursday, April 14th Van R. Butler Elementary was filled with mad scientists. Students had the opportunity to complete several science experiments. After completing their experiments, students were able to create and eat a “magic potion”.

The Florida Chautauqua awarded Mrs. Powell's Economics class a Certificate of Recognition and a $25 check for their Chautauqua Assembly exhibit "Game Board Entertainment vs. Electronic Games." The presentation placed second in the People's Choice Award and was rated as Outstanding by Assembly Judges.

 

Book Fair

The book fair is here! Come and buy some groovy books until Tuesday, 4-19. It is open from 8:00 - 2:30 every day. Mrs. Shelton will also have the media center open on Science Night, so be sure to visit her.

Walton Middle School seventh grade science teacher Greer Harvell spent her spring break attending the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.  While there, Mrs. Harvell earned the honor of receiving the Vernier Technology Award for using probeware to monitor water quality at Lake DeFuniak.  Also, while at the conference, Mrs. Harvell had the opportunity to meet Bill Nye the Science Guy.
