SWHS Teacher and ESP of the Year

November 10, 2016

South Walton High School chose Ms. Carrie Sneed and Mr. Brad Adams as our Teacher of the Year and ESP of the year.  Ms. Sneed teaches Psychology and Advanced Placement Psychology.  Mr. Adams is our Plant Manager.  He and his maintenance team work extremely hard to keep our school looking it’s best. SWHS Student to Sign with North Florida in Jacksonville

November 10, 2016

South Walton High School Girls Basketball player Savannah Slade signed a letter of commitment to play next year at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL.  Savannah is flanked by her parents, Britni and Kyle Manners.  Savannah is the first Seahawk Girls Basketball player to sign with a Division 1 school.  We are very proud of her! ECMS Teachers Win NDIA Gulf Coast Chapter ACCELerator Grants

Last week Ms. Murray and Ms. Anderson were awarded by the NDIA Gulf Coast Chapter ACCELerator Grants Program. The focus of this program is to foster enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math in our local school children. The program seeks to accomplish this by offering grants up to $1000 to local school teachers and tax-exempt/non-profit organizations who successfully propose projects or programs which demonstrate creativity and innovation in teaching and encouraging an interest in science, technology, engineering and math. MSE Teachers Presented with a Grant from St. Joe Community Foundation

November 8, 2016

MSE 4th grade teachers Jessica Anderson and Cheryl Carroll wrote and submitted a grant on 7/11/16.  The grant is to help provide funding for tablets for 4th grade students at Maude Sanders Elementary.  The grant was approved and MSE 4th grade teachers were presented with a giant check at the November 1st board meeting by Janet Greeno, Executive Director of St. Joe's Community Foundation division.  Submitted by Wyndy Crozier/Laura Smith.

WHS Marching Braves Accolades

November 7, 2016

The Marching Braves were represented well on Nov. 3, as several students were accepted into the first ever Baptist College of Florida Honor Band!  These students worked with some of the best musicians from schools in surrounding counties to put together an "All Star" band concert.  A DVD of the performance was created and will be sent to WHS soon. 

Our students rehearsed all morning and were then fed by BCF and had an opportunity to walk the campus before putting on a great performance.  Our students were the only representatives from Walton County, and they did a superb job. Submitted by Christy English.

BES November Students of the Month

November 7, 2016

Bay Elementary School is proud to announce the BES Students of the Month. Khloe Jennings and Stratton Thede have been selected to represent BES as the November Kiwanis Club Students of the Month. Both students will be honored at a special breakfast sponsored by the Freeport Kiwanis Club at the Coastal Branch Library in Santa Rosa Beach,  November 16th. Submitted by Cindy Stewart.

Creativity Is Making Marvelous of the Discarded at WMS

WMS students learn the value of recycling in Mrs. Katlyn Arnold's Art classes.  In recent weeks, students have been utilizing recycled materials when learning about history and the world around them.  For instance, in one project, students created recycled cardboard heads that resemble inspiring people who changed the world, such as Martin Luther King, Jr., Gandhi, Einstein, and Bob Marley, among others.  In a separate project, students created cardboard self-portraits.  In Mrs. Arnold's class, students enjoy conserving resources while combining their imagination and knowledge.
