As part of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Gaetz Institute aerospace courses at Paxton High School, students built underwater robots known as Seaperch robots. This year’s regional competition at Gulf Coast State College included an obstacle course challenge and a “finesse” challenge in which students designed an “arm” for the robot to successfully slide a pipe while underwater. Paxton’s team of, from left, Devon Stokes and Dylan Norris, utilized an arm that was designed in a computer aided design program and 3D printed. The team was able to move all five pipes while working 8-12 feet underwater in the timed challenge and earned third place out of seventy teams for their time. Submitted by Kalli McMillan.

MHS Attends the Wedding of "Q" and "U"
March 22, 2017
The Wedding of “Q” and “U”
Congratulations to Mr. Q and Little Mrs. U on their beautiful marriage! Once upon a time, in Alphabet land, Mr. Q was without a sound of his own. Mr. Q met Little Miss U and their fairytale began; they learned they could make so many words together.
What a wonderful event! Mrs. Redfern’s kindergarten class prepared for the Q and U wedding! The students created fancy attire with crowns and top hats. The class decorated a wedding runner for the letters to walk down the aisle. Mr. Q and Little Miss U exchanged vows to promise to stand by each other in words like quarter and quack. At the reception, the students ate wedding cake and danced. Submitted by Elizabeth Gaither.
