In support of National Unity Day and National Bullying Prevention Month, the Braves TV crew painted rocks and wrote kind messages on them. They hid the rocks throughout the school on October 25. Students that find a rock can give it to someone to brighten their day, keep it, or hide it for someone else to find. Or they can return it to the LMC for a candy prize. Congratulations to Diego Duran-Gonzales, 8th grade, and his teacher, Jennifer Rhea, from Emerald Coast Middle School, for having his art work selected to represent the Walton County School District in the Art in the Capitol Competition. The Art in the Capitol Competition is a statewide visual arts competition in compliance with House Bill 701, that requires each school district to annually hold an art competition for all students grades 6-8. South Walton High is Working Together Against Bullying - United for Kindness, Acceptance and Inclusion! #ECKunityday #unityday Administration, Staff and Students wore orange on Wednesday, October 25, as they joined with Emerald Coast Kids (emeraldcoastkids.org) in "Color the Coast Orange" day! The activitiy was part of a show of support for Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center's Unity Day 2017!

WMS students took a united stand against bullying on Wednesday, October 25th. During lunches, students in all three grade levels signed a banner, pledging to take a stand against bullying. Prior to Unity Day, Mr. Campbell challenged each grade level to show their support for the cause by wearing orange. The sixth grade class had the greatest participation of all three classes, flooding the lunchroom Wednesday with a sea of orange. WMS applauds these amazing students for their kind Warrior spirit. In support of National Unity Day, the Walton County School District joined emeraldcoastkids.org’s WEAR ORANGE for #UnityDay2017. Students from all over the district wore orange on October 25th, and participated in activities throughout the month to help raise awareness of the serious issue of bullying. Activities emphasized the importance of kindness, acceptance, inclusion and the need for unity.
Superintendent Russell Hughes and the district office administration and staff all wore orange for the event, and gathered together to show their support for the anti-bullying cause!

The Theatre Project at South Walton presents: The Importance of Being Ernie, a modern day re-telling of the Oscar Wilde classic, set in a modern day American high school. Run dates are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 26, 27 and 28 at 7:30pm in the SWHS auditorium. Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults. We'll see you there!
