WDE 4th graders are studying the different types of text structures. In class today, the students were placed in groups and each group was assigned a text structure. The group then had to teach the class about their text structure. Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

Mrs. Walker’s first grade class at West DeFuniak Elementary used their bowling skills to improve their subtraction game.  Students started with 10, then subtracted the pins that were knocked over to find the difference. Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

Mrs. Callahan’s Class at West DeFuniak Elementary is learning to use scientific tools to solve mathematical problems by measuring mass, volume, length, and time. The students measured then took their calculations and rounded to the nearest ten. These scientists have discovered the importance of math in science!  Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.

4th Grade students at WDE have been studying the state of Florida. They have learned the location of the three regions in Florida along with the location of major cities, and tourists attractions. Students had a great time decorating a state cookie and identify these locations on their cookie as their final project for this unit. Students then enjoyed eating their state of Florida cookie.  Submitted by Jessica Dawkins.
